Market may trade sideways between 11,400 and 11,700 levels, buy on dips

Traders are advised to keep a tab of all the above mentioned levels and should focus on individual stocks that are likely to provide better trading opportunities

The market took a giant leap after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s slashed corporate taxes. All of a sudden, the tide turned upwards and before anyone could realise, the Nifty was well above 11,200 levels. Since it was predominantly a short squeezing move, the market was not done with such a sharp one day spurt. We had a good bump up on September 23 to kick-start the week on a strong note.
Participants were so ecstatic; the Nifty went on to almost kiss the 11,700 mark in the initial euphoric move. However, this seemed to be an overreaction and hence, throughout the remaining part of the week, market consolidated in a slender range to eventually conclude a tad above 11,500 levels.

Top buy and sell ideas by Rajat Bose, Mitessh Thakkar, Prakash Gaba for short term

Prakash Gaba of prakashgaba.com recommends buying Berger Paints with target at Rs 450 and stop loss at Rs 430 and Bata India with target at Rs 1800 and stop loss at Rs 1721.

Indian market ended in the red on September 27, tracking weakness in other Asian markets. The 30-share Sensex closed the day with a loss of 167 points, or 0.43 percent, at 38,822.57, with 20 stocks in the red, while the Nifty50 finished 59 points, or 0.51 percent, lower at 11,512.40. Among the 50 stocks in the index, 39 suffered losses.
Experts are of the view that the market may see some consolidation due to sharp gains during the previous week. The Nifty50 has begun the consolidation phase after a massive rally. All short-term indicators have moved to overbought levels which cap the upside for the time being.

Wall Street drops; White House considers delisting Chinese companies

U.S. stocks fell on Friday after reports that the Trump administration was considering delisting Chinese companies from U.S. stock exchanges, raising worries about a further escalation in the U.S.-China trade war.

The move would be part of a broader effort to limit U.S. investment in Chinese companies, sources told Reuters.
High-level trade talks between Washington and Beijing are scheduled for Oct. 10-11, before the start of the U.S. third-quarter earnings season.
"If our policies spark a major sell-off in Shanghai where that creates problems for China, that could negatively impact the trade negotiations, which are supposed to start on Oct. 10. That is where the U.S.-based fear would come from," said Michael O'Rourke, chief market strategist at JonesTrading in Greenwich, Connecticut.
The tariff-sensitive Philadelphia semiconductor index extended its decline after the reports and ended down 2.4% on the day. The index was already under pressure from Micron Technology Inc's , which tumbled after it forecast a disappointing first-quarter profit.
The S&P technology index  dropped 1.3%. U.S.-listed shares of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd , Baidu Inc and JD.com Inc all slid.
Adding to the negative momentum in afternoon trade, the S&P 500 index briefly fell below its 50-day moving average.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 70.87 points, or 0.26%, to 26,820.25, the S&P 500 lost 15.83 points, or 0.53%, to 2,961.79 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 91.03 points, or 1.13%, to 7,939.63.
All three indexes ended lower for the week as well, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq registering their biggest weekly percentage drops since August. The Cboe volatility index ended at a three-week high.
Shares of Wells Fargo & Co <WFC.N> rose 3.8% and the stock was the top gainer in the S&P 500 after the lender named banking veteran Charles Scharf as chief executive officer.
Data early in the day showed U.S. consumer spending barely rose in August, suggesting that the economy's main growth engine was slowing after accelerating sharply in the second quarter.
Declining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by a 1.38-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.94-to-1 ratio favoured decliners.
The S&P 500 posted 11 new 52-week highs and 6 new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 29 new highs and 118 new lows.
Volume on U.S. exchanges was 6.68 billion shares, compared to the 7.2 billion average for the full session over the last 20 trading days.

Midcap stocks bounce back, but earnings recovery will take time

After a long hiatus, a recovery in the Nifty Midcap-100 has come as a welcome relief. The index rose about 6% in the last two days, mirroring similar gains in the bellwether Nifty 50.

Tax cuts will shore up earnings, and this has raised expectations for mid-caps as well. However, demand revival has been elusive, and that will delay earnings recovery for mid-cap firms. “Earnings growth will be better than what the Street expected because of the tax cut. But demand uptick could take time, which will happen in the fourth quarter. But we should get disappointed if this quarter’s earnings are not going to be good," said Rusmik Oza, head of research, retail clients, Kotak Securities.

Top buy and sell ideas by Sudarshan Sukhani, Mitessh Thakkar, Jai Bala for short term

Sudarshan Sukhani of s2analytics.com suggests buying Tata Elsxi with stop loss at Rs 670 and target of Rs 710 and Balkrishna Industries with stop loss at Rs 770 and target of Rs 840.

Indian equity benchmarks ended flat on September 24, mostly on profit-booking, amid uninspiring global cues, while investors assessed the impact of tax rate cut on different stocks and sectors after a two-day blockbuster rally.
The rally in equities ebbed after the two consecutive sessions of gains which saw Sensex and Nifty surging over 8 percent and investors getting richer by over Rs 10 lakh crore. While some consolidation was expected as the market is trading near peak valuations, analysts are of the view that it will offer fresh buying opportunities.

Proposed Rs 100 lakh cr expenditure puts infra sector in spotlight; L&T, Mahindra among 10 stocks in focus

Infrastructure sector has a big multiplier impact on the economy and experts feel that select stocks in the sector are likely to hog limelight.

To achieve the $5 trillion economy target, the government, earlier this year, constituted a high-level task force earmarking Rs 100 lakh crore for infrastructure projects by 2024-25.
The task force, headed by the economic affairs secretary, will draw up a 'National Infrastructure Pipeline' of Rs 100 lakh crore, the finance ministry said in a statement. This would include greenfield and brownfield projects costing above Rs 100 crore each.
